The Beautiful and the Damned

                                                      Louis Vuitton RTW Fall 2011

Marc Jacobs certainly left me astounded after watching this show, but the word "show" may be an understatement for what is in this video. What was created here for the Fall 2011 collection was no less than a spectactular production. Everything from the music, to the decor, to the hauntingly beautiful clothing that was put together with such creativity and it left the audience wanting more. Each outfit flowed gracefully from one to the other, and represented a distinct type of woman. My favorite being the pieces that reflected the 40's, specifically the floral calf-length schoolgirl dresses, each topped with a white or black collar. What makes the show so distinct is the use of three elevators bringing each and every model up to the runway to reveal the look. It creates a sort of unveiling performance and maintains the old-fashioned feel of the show and garments. But let's not forget what Louis Vuitton is all about, its signature purses. This show focused particularly on its classic Lockit bag, appropriately going with the whole feel and look of the show. I was very pleased with this whole performance and feel that it was well thought out. I am always excited to see which direction Jacobs will take with the Louis Vuitton collections and I can't wait to see more!
